Strike in Hong Kong Container Terminals: Daily Update

The strike by some of the contracted workers at the Hongkong International Terminals appears to take a more serious turn with many of the HIT own workers joining on a Work-to-Rule campaign in support of the contracted workers.

There is now a growing number of ships whose berthing at HIT is affected, with some skipping the call at Hong Kong and some changing their port rotation to accommodate the situation.

Many exporters are also working with their overseas buyers to change the term of trading to FOB Shenzhen in lieu of FOB Hong Kong.

The Hong Kong Government tried to intervene without any success of arranging a meeting among all the parties.
